Without doubt, the number one pest that we are asked to deal with are wasps. They form their nests in a variety of  nooks and crannies such as air bricks, lofts, garages, sheds, porches, dormer windows; the list is endless. During the Spring the queen wakes up after hibernating during the colder Winter months. She will initially feed herself up before choosing a location to construct a nest. The initial construction is a small ball the size of a golf ball. Within nest there are about 20 cells where the queen will deposit an egg in each. These eggs soon hatch into larvae and will pupate to become the first workers of the new nest | Wasp control.

Squirrels can cause havoc if they gain access to your loft. At Kestrel Pest Management we have attended jobs where the wiring has been chewed and caused the electric to trip. They will chew beams, rafters, roof felt and they will pull up the insulation. They will dislodge roof tiles and damage fascias and soffits. They will chew water pipes and cause blockages in the feeder tank. Advice

When people have a pest issue, whether it be a mouse in the kitchen or wasps in the loft, they can often be tempted do do their own treatment using products that can be purchased from the corner shop. At Kestrel we would always advocate getting in a professional to do the job. We wouldn’t think of rewiring our house or installing a bathroom suite because we know that is a job for the professionals and the same should be thought when we have a pest issue.

Moles (Talpa europaea) can quickly spoil any grassed area by the moles prodigious tunnelling that results in spoil heaps being deposited on the surface. The moles are constructing these tunnels to search for earthworms and grubs that reside in the soil. They will patrol these tunnels on a regular basis (around every 4 hours) to consume any food item which has fallen into the tunnel.
